red was produced as a response to the human occupation of planet earth. it is, most accurately, a rite of human-user culture.

red's debut was may 7 & 8,1999 at the roadhouse theater for contemporary art. it is best classified as a rite, but can be also recognised as an improvisational study in a performance art setting. there were 12 initiates; 3 musicians, 8 officiates, and a lighting technician. the rite lasted approximately one hour. witnesses were charged $5.00 at the door.

if humans are to survive the next century, they must undertake an honest embracing of their nature as users. they use the earth and all it's resources, they use each other to further themselves, and they use everything they know to be understood as *real* or *fact*... to a fault.

in a growing society of an ever shrinking culture, humans will eventually be forced to acknowledge the consequence of their folly. the iron, water, and salt in our human bodies will become as useful and sought after as those stores found within the earth. the human-user culture will come to depend upon ever-dwindling resources with an ever-higher demand as they march unabashedly forward into their fantasied, ultimately exclusive creation of tomorrow.

red is an exorcism and embracement of the amassing and many yet unborn unconscious human-user culture.
