chromatic dance is a comprehensive movement/academic curriculum developed to encompass the formal techniques of Classical Dance and Martial Arts as a vehicle for further exploration in the arts and sciences. The first three levels of study approach these forms in a format that is easily digestible and assimilated for the beginning mover. The remaining three levels of study are comprehensive studies in technique with supplemental academic classes. Each form is offered as pure technique, enabling the dancer to develop their own sense of movement aesthetic. Other forms, such as Character, Jazz, Tap, and World Dance are also incorporated into the curriculum in it's later levels. The six levels of study are described briefly below.

Yellow - creatively works toward an understanding of rhythm, texture, dynamic, shape and space through movement. It is recommended for students age 3-4.

Orange - develops a working knowledge of the body and the breath. They begin to build a sensory vocabulary of basic dance and inter-related movement. This level is recommended for students age 5-6 and usually takes at least one to two years of study to complete.

Red - builds a basic vocabulary of classical terminology. They memorize meaning and mechanics, and begin to create phrases for memorization - in group, partnered, and individual settings. This level is recommended for students age 7-9 and usually takes at least one to two years of study to complete.

Purple - studies the forms of Classical Ballet, Modern, Yoga, Kung Fu and Tai Chi as pure forms of technique in movement. This level is recommended for students age 9-13 and usually takes at least two to three years of study to complete.

Blue - continues study in classic forms with addition of Character, Jazz and Tap techniques. Stage Craft, Nutrition and Dance History are also required classes before advancement. This level is recommended for students age 12-15 and usually take at least two to three years of study to complete.

Green - continues study in classical techniques with addition of Character, Jazz, Tap, and World Dance. Choreography, Pedagogy, Kineseology, and Administration are also required classes. This level is recommended for students age 13-16 and usually take at least two to three years of study to complete.

Currently, there are no chromatic dance classes being offered in the area. Ms. Bodine is still searching for a reasonable space to offer her classes. There is some possibility she may be able to hold them at the Erie Art Museum in the near future. With help from the people that supported the moving space, Shen & Bones Performance Group and Chronic Dance, we'll have classes offered sometime soon.
