| Alethea Bodine - a native of Pennsylvania and dancer and singer of 18 years - has plied her art in the Erie and surrounding areas of Pennsylvania for the last 14 years. Her history as a performer is long and varied. Since earning a BA in dance performance in 1991 from Mercyhurst College, she has been director and administrator of two dance schools and acted as Artistic Director of the North Coast Ballet. In these positions, she has choreographed hundreds of studies for childrens' performances based on classical ballet and modern dance techniques. When asked, she feels her greatest achievement is the dance curriculum she has begun to develop for the young at heart called the chromatic dance curriculum. She currently conducts residencies through the Pennsylvania Roster Artist program and teaches Dance History and Appreciation as an adjunct instuctor at Mercyhurst College in Erie, PA. | "pRO_dUCT" is the name of Bodine and DiBello's newest theater piece which examines the concept of human economy and technologically fueled media fallout in the computer age. Bodine and DiBello began collaborating in the Fall of 1998 to create "red" - a rite inspired by the music of Tom Waits, which was performed at the Roadhouse Theater of Erie in Spring of 1999. "red" proved to be the couples' first successful attempt at vying their crafts in the arena of the theater. With strong backgrounds in classical and popular dance and music, Bodine and DiBello create visual and aural landscapes to weave engaging conceptual tales that roam through realms of scathing comedic satire to gentle allegory. Their group of performers include, actors, singers, visual artists, musicians and dancers. It is the third collaborative effort from the couple in three years. Their latest endeavor is performed by Chronic Dance - the officially named multimedia/theater troupe of the "red" era. "pRO_dUCT" features dancers Lani Fand Weissbach and Bodine with an entirely original score composed by Rick DiBello performed by his group Noise Floor. 8/2000 Players in pRO_dUCT were: John Biggie Alethea Bodine Lani Fand Weissbach Jason Fried Heather Hertel Kate McDevitt Amy Root Dawn Rosenberg Lara Snavely |
